The 20 Best Healthy Snacks To Eat When Hungry




apples and almond peanut butter snackEveryone is always on the hunt for the best and most healthy snacks to eat in between breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No one wants the snacks they choose to add to their waistline, and when done correctly, snacking can actually help you to eat less at meals. The key to a healthy snack is finding one that has a good balance between protein and fiber (with little sugar).
Here are some ideas for healthy snacks that will help keep you full in between meals:
1. Strawberries with vanilla Greek yogurt
2. Whole wheat tortilla (toasted in oven) with BBQ sauce, goat cheese, and diced pineapples
3. Apple with almond butter
4. Cottage cheese with pineapple
5. Greek yogurt with blueberries and cherries
6. Banana with a handful of almonds
7. Greek yogurt with honey and cinnamon sprinkled on top
8. Frozen grapes (green grapes are my favorite!)
9. Pear and string cheese
10. Whole wheat crackers with sharp cheddar cheese
11. Whole grain toast with peanut butter and honey on top
12. Whole grain tortilla (baked in oven) cut in triangles with salsa
13. Celery, carrots, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes with hummus
14. Hard-boiled eggs (with salt and pepper)
15. Tuna mixed with avocado
16. Turkey breast slices and mango
17. Pita and hummus
18. Chicken breast with pistachios
19. Smoothie with spinach, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and a banana
20. Kind bars (I like the ones with under 6g of sugar)
There you have it… My favorite snacks that I eat all of the time. The next time you go to grab a snack, try one of the above. It will keep you fuller longer and won’t spike your blood sugar. Plus, you will be fueling your body with healthy ingredients, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

30 Day Challenge To Be Your Best Self




Be Fabulous iPhone AlarmDo you just feel like life gets so busy at times and you just float from one thing to do to another? You know, take the kids to their activities, go to the grocery store, fill up the tank with gas, make dinner, bath time with the kids, and on and on. Like you’re so busy every single day, but there’s nothing super substantial going on. (And believe me, I know as moms we are important and even having clean laundry folded every day is a feat in itself, but I’m talking more about us as individuals, not moms.)
I’ve been feeling this way.
There’s so much that I want to do with my life, but I feel like, while I do have short & long term goals, I’m just going through the daily motions with no solid plan. I have a 5 children...so things come up. I can sit down to write, but maybe they decide that’s the time they want a snack so my time is interrupted. And forget being productive after they go to bed because I’m tired. I just want to relax and watch TV or read. At that point all I want to do is check out and have some time doing absolutely nothing. (I’m clearly more of a morning person.)
I met a new friend spontaneously for coffee yesterday morning. We ran into each other while dropping our kids off at summer camp and decided to go for coffee. (See, I’m just a floater with no real plans.) Anyways… we started chatting and surprisingly we are a lot alike and have a lot in common… and just for the record, I feel like it’s really rare to find people that you just click with right away when it comes to things that are more deep than talking about going on vacation.
To make a long story short, we decided to start a challenge for the next 30 days and help motivate each other because she feels the exact same way that I do. And, I’m really excited. While today marks only the first day, I was really excited to wake up early this morning and have time to myself.

My 30-Day Challenge

My challenge is to wake up early every morning (6am, WHAAAAT!) so that I can drink my coffee, manage my Younique Business and BeachBody Business, and write my plans for the day. What I’m most excited about is just having quiet time to myself. I mentioned earlier that I’m more of a morning person than night owl, but I really like my sleep. A lot. I usually wake up around this time every morning, so this is not really  going to be quite a change for me.
In addition to waking up early, another part of my 30-day challenge is to blog every single day. There’s so much that pops in my head on a daily basis, but taking time to sit down and collect my thoughts is another story. See, now I can wake up early and focus on a blog post for the day. In peace and quiet. I’m pretty pumped.
The final part of my challenge is to try to drink my beloved wine only on the weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). I already blew that today, as I had a drink at lunch with my mom, but hey, two out of three ain’t bad. Ha, ha!

8 Surprising Benefits Rose Water From Younique Products


When I first joined Younique, I couldn’t wait to try all of the products, with the exception of one. The Refreshed Pure & Natural Rose Water. I just didn’t get it and what it was supposed to do. The rose water was one of the last, if not the last, product I tried and you know what? I fell in love with it. To this day, it’s probably my most favorite product that Younique offers… well that and the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara of course!
So here’s the thing, I was completely naïve about rose water. I didn’t know what the purpose of it was, so I didn’t bother to do any research. I was too excited about all of the other Younique products so I focused on those initially. Finally there came a time when I decided to look up just exactly what rose water was good for and then it was a no-brainer for me to place my order.

Here are some ways you can use rose water in your daily life (and some just might surprise you):

I use my rose water at least twice a day as a toner. I use the Awake Facial Cleanser to wash my face and then I spray 3 squirts of rose water on a cotton ball and wipe it over my face (and neck, too). Once that dries, I use half a bead of Brilliant moisturizer and my face has never felt better. I do this in the morning and before I go to bed.
2. As a refresher.
Being that it’s summer (in Atlanta where the humidity runs rampant), I squirt rose water all over my face to feel fresher. It gives my face relief from the humidity and feels SO nice!
3. Wrinkles.
Let’s face it; wrinkles are a part of life! We will all get wrinkles at some point, but why not do what you can to help minimize them. Rose water helps to prevent aging because it tightens your skin’s pores, which can help reduce wrinkles! Who doesn’t want that?!
4. Remove Makeup.
You can use rose water to take off your makeup. It removes the dirt and oil that can hang out in your pores. It’s also a great way to remove any eye makeup.
5. Remove redness.
I don’t know about you, but my face gets really red when I exercise. Like embarrassing, don’t want to leave the house red. Since rose water has anti-inflammatory properties, spritzing a little on your face can take away any redness and irritation. It helps to calm your skin and that’s a plus in my book for sure!
6. To set makeup.
When you are finished applying your makeup, a couple of squirts of rose water can be applied on top to set your makeup and give it a nice and finished look.
7. Puffiness.
You can also put your bottle of rose water in the refrigerator to cool it off so that you can use it on any puffiness around your eyes. Once it’s cold, apply the rose water to a cotton ball and place it on top of your eyes. It’s amazing and much better than using cucumbers, in my opinion!
8. Irritation from Shaving.
If your legs are sensitive and get irritated after you shave, try applying rose water to your newly-shaven legs. The properties of rose water will heal and calm any irritation and it feels wonderful!
Did you know that rose water could help and do so much for your skin? It really is amazing and I don’t know how I went so long without learning more about it and trying it out. It’s become part of my daily routine and I’m quite obsessed with it!
